Orinda Oaks

How fortunate we are to have the opportunity to live under the canopies of the magnificant California oaks! They bring us green shade through the hot summers, and the elegant sculpture of their branches embrace the site all year. Still, the challenges for gardening under them are many: New plants must compete for soil among large oak roots and must be able to thrive in deep shade part of the year. Choosing native plants used to these very conditions is often the best solution.
